Speaker Sam Mihara will share his personal account of Japanese American imprisonment and its civil rights violations during World War II on Saturday, May 7 at 2:00 p.m. in the Main Library Community Room (600 E. Mariposa) .

When World War II broke out, the United States government forced Sam and his family to move, first to a detention camp in Pomona, then to a remote prison camp in northern Wyoming, where they remained. during three years.
He developed the Memories of Heart Mountain presentation to educate people and help ensure that such civil rights violations never happen again.
