Twitter locks personal account of White House press secretary

Twitter has locked down the personal account of White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany after sharing a report about the alleged corruption of the son of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, President Donald Trump has said.

Mr Trump and his campaign alleged this was due to a history of the New York Post who made allegations against Mr Biden’s son Hunter Biden that he used access to his father in exchange for payments through his post on the board of a Ukrainian company.

Addressing a campaign rally in the battlefield state of Iowa, Mr Trump said: “They closed his account. She’s the White House press secretary. Because she is reporting the truth, they closed her account. So let’s see what will happen. We have just learned from explosive documents published by a very good newspaper, the New York Postt that Joe Biden blatantly lied about his involvement in his son’s corrupt business dealings.

Twitter announced earlier that it is taking action to block URLs, links, images or material by removing tweets that violate its policy on pirated material.

“We know that we still have work to do to clarify our product when we apply our rules in this way. We need to provide additional clarity and context to prevent the tweet or URL DM that violates our policies, ”Twitter said.

“The policy, established in 2018, prohibits the use of our service to distribute content obtained without authorization. We don’t want to incite hacking by allowing Twitter to be used to distribute potentially illegally obtained material, ”he said.

Noah Mansker, business journalist at New York Post said the daily’s Twitter account was also locked down because Hunter Biden’s stories violate his rules against “distributing pirated material.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Trump’s son Donald J Trump Jr. posted a video attacking the Biden family, calling them the “most corrupt political family” in American history.
